National Weather Service officials announced a winter weather advisory Wednesday morning to remain in effect until 3 p.m. for portions of north central and northeast Illinois as snow was expected to fall up to 1.5 inch per hour during the morning commute.
Officials warned of slippery road conditions for commuters in the affected area and cautioned visibility possibly will be under a mile at times in the morning hours.

Tuesday weather officials called for an advisory to last at least until 6 p.m. Wednesday but scaled back to around 3 p.m.
Snow accumulations were expected to be 2 to 3 inches Wednesday afternoon in the area, officials said.

Portions of central, east central, north central and west central Indiana was under a winter storm warning until 7 p.m. Wednesday, officials said. Indiana could get between 6 to 9 inches of snow Wednesday.
Snow accumulations near the lake in Illinois maybe an inch more Wednesday evening.
Current temperatures at Midway Airport registered at 29 degrees, with light snow and mist.
