UFC president Dana White apologized Monday after he was caught on camera slapping his wife at a New Year’s Eve party in Mexico.

White, 53, and his wife, Anne, were at a resort in Cabo San Lucas for the holiday, TMZ reported.

Video showed White appearing to say something to his spouse, who then stood up and slapped him across the face. White immediately slapped her back, then slapped her a second time after she regained composure.

The two were separated by other party-goers.

“I’m literally making no excuses for this thing at all,” White told TMZ. “It’s never happened before. It’s the first time it’s ever happened. People are going to say what they’re going to say and it is what is. Whatever people say is deserved. I deserve it.”

White has previously ripped UFC fighters who have been accused of domestic violence, something he acknowledged in his interview with TMZ.

“You’ve heard me say for years, ‘There’s never ever an excuse for a guy to put his hands on a woman,’ and now here I am on TMZ talking about it,” he said.

The Whites have been married for 26 years and have three children together. Anne also issued a statement to TMZ.

“To say this is out of character for him is an understatement — nothing like this has ever happened before,” she said. “Unfortunately, we were both drinking too much on New Year’s Eve and things got out of control, on both sides. We’ve talked this through as a family and apologized to each other.”
