Richmond-Kee was pronounced dead at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, while Kindle was pronounced dead at the scene at 10:37 p.m., and their deaths were ruled accidental, according to the medical examiner’s office.
In a letter Sunday to parents in District 227, Superintendent Johnnie Thomas said grief counselors were being made available to students.
“Our hope is that our student support team can provide an avenue through which students will be able to cope with this tragedy,” Thomas wrote.
The district noted that a GoFundMe page has been established for the students, gofund.me/f8a6faab, and that donations may also be mailed or dropped off at the district office, 20550 S. Cicero Ave., Matteson IL 60443.
Messages left with Richton Park police seeking additional details about the crash were not returned.
