Around 3:45 p.m., Kane County sheriff’s deputies and Campton Hills police were dispatched to Empire Road and Kingswood Drive in an unincorporated part of Campton Township for reports of a crash between a vehicle and a school bus.
Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain said an initial investigation indicates that a 2013 Lexus SUV was traveling east on Empire Road and struck the back of the school bus.

Of the four people inside the Lexus, two were killed and two were seriously injured, according to officials.
“It appears like there was no attempt to slow down and both were traveling in the same direction,” Hain said of the crash.
The bus was transporting students home from Lily Lake Grade School, which teaches students in kindergarten through fifth grade. Central Community Unit School District 301 said in a Tweet that the students were released to their families following the crash.
“There will be trauma care going forward over the next few days for anyone who was impacted,” district officials said.
Hain said more information on the crash will be released later. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
