Baffert, who wins a lot of very important horse races, also is incredibly unlucky, it appears. According to the Louisville Courier-Journal, 31 of Baffert’s horses — including a whopping five in the 12-month period that ended on Derby Day last weekend — have been flagged for medical violations. Gamine, which finished third in last year’s Kentucky Oaks race, was disqualified after testing for betamethasone and its owners had to hand back their winnings.
