Thursday forecast: Afternoon isolated thunderstorms possible, highs around 80

National Weather Service officials said isolated thunderstorms could develop Thursday afternoon in portions of northeast Illinois and northwest Indiana.

Officials expected the storms to hit near the Interstate 80 and 88 corridors in the afternoon hours. The strongest of the storms may produce gusty winds, though severe weather is not expected, officials said.

Current conditions at Chicago’s airports are a few clouds at 83 degrees. Friday there is a 30% chance of scattered thunderstorms, and there’s a 10 percent chance of isolated storms Saturday.
