Skokie woman struck by car, killed in Morton Grove

An 89-year-old Skokie woman was killed in Morton Grove Saturday night after being hit by a car, police said.

Police are investigating the incident, in which the driver of a 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan was going westbound on Oakton Street at Long Avenue when the victim was struck, police said. The location is on Morton Grove’s eastern border and is about two blocks west of the Skokie Public Library.

Marina Litvinova, 89, of Skokie, was identified as the victim, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officers arrived at the scene at 8:48 p.m. and Litvinova was taken to Evanston’s St. Francis Hospital, police said.

The driver is cooperating with the police. No charges have been filed as the incident remains under investigation, according to Morton Grove Police Commander Dennis Johnson. The Major Crash Assistance Team is participating in the investigation.

Police are asking anyone who may have seen the crash to contact the police department at 847-470-5200.

Johnson noted it was not raining at the time of the accident.
