Advocate announced last month that the shortage would affect only those needing elective surgeries and would be resolved by mid- to late-September, but doctors have been told it’s possible they won’t fully staffed for another nine to 12 months, said Dr. Tom Stanley, vice chair of surgery at Sherman, and Dr. Christine Estes, an obstetrician-gynecologist with Midwest Center for Women’s HealthCare.
