The Sheehans’ deconversion required a significant rehabilitation of what had been a 22-room mansion. They’re work included preserving certain historical features and touches, such as leaded glass transom windows in the living room, Lincrusta wallpaper in the entry, built-in walnut cabinetry in the vestibule, original moldings and “carpenter’s lace” detailing in the turret area with five large windows. The couple also installed 97 new Marvin windows, Fromenthal velvet wallpaper in the living room and built out a new kitchen using the Chicago-based interior designer O’Brien Harris. The kitchen features white quartzite stone, hand-painted white cabinets, high-end appliances like a 60-inch Wolf range and two Sub-Zero refrigerators, a coffee bar and south-facing windows overlooking the yard.
