A 77-year-old man was shot during an attempt robbery on the West Side early Saturday, Chicago police said.
The victim was sitting in a car in the 6100 block of West North Avenue at 3:09 a.m. when three male assailants got out of a black Chevrolet SUV opened his car doors and tried to rob him.

One of them shot the 77-year-old in the abdomen and arm before fleeing the scene, police said.
The man was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood where he was listed in fair condition, police said.

No one was in custody and Area 5 detectives were investigating.
