A car crash on Sunday morning on DuSable Lake Shore Drive involving a CTA bus left one dead and 15 injured, police said.
A man in a Dodge Journey was driving southbound in the northbound lanes around 6 a.m. near the Kenwood neighborhood when the car struck a CTA bus, police said. The Chicago Fire Department reported one car fire at the scene and closed the northbound lanes of DuSable Lake Shore Drive.
According to police, an adult female passenger was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital where she was pronounced dead. The adult male driver was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital in critical condition. Another female adult passenger was transported to Northwestern Hospital in critical condition.
The bus driver and 12 passengers were transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries and conditions, police said.
Police are at the scene investigating.
