A pedestrian died after being struck by an inbound Metra BNSF train at the Naperville station Friday morning, Metra spokesperson Meg Reile said.
The accident happened between 6 and 6:10 a.m. after Metra train #1214 left the parking yard at Aurora, headed toward Chicago and it had no passengers on board when the person was hit. The train was operating express until Fairview Avenue station in Downers Grove, which was going to be its first stop to pick up passengers.

The Naperville station was closed after the incident until authorities finish investigating. Inbound and outbound trains on the Metra BNSF line were experiencing significant delays, but Reile said the service was hoping to operate on a regular schedule later Friday.
This is a developing story.
