Weather officials said the area remains under a wind advisory in effect till 1 p.m. Saturday for central, east central, north central, northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana.
Friday night several areas were under a tornado watch, but no tornadoes had been confirmed as of Saturday morning. A roof at a theatre collapsed in Belvidere killing at least one and injured about 20 others. Officials said a tornado warning was issued for Boone County 20 minutes before the Belvidere damage had occurred.
Weather officials said west winds 20 to 30 mph with gust up to 45 mph were expected Saturday morning in portions of the region.
Power outages, falling tree limbs and blowing unsecured objects by be a result of the wind, officials said.
As of 8:15 a.m., ComEd reported more than 22,000 customers were effected by outages.
Current conditions at Midway Airport was light rain at 38 degrees, and conditions at O’Hare International Airport was overcast at 38 degrees.
