Two police officers were injured while responding to a call of shots fired in an accident on the Southwest Side in the West Lawn neighborhood, Chicago police said.
Shortly after 2:10 a.m. Saturday, the officers were southbound on St. Louis Avenue with the lights and sirens activated when their vehicle was struck by a black sedan headed west on 63rd Street.

A 16-year-old driver failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the police vehicle at an intersection, police said.
The teen suffered injuries to the mouth and was taken to Holy Cross Hospital where he was listed in good condition. The officers who complained of pain also were taken to a local hospital where they were listed in fair condition.

Citations were pending against the teen driver.
