At least three people tried to steal an off-duty Chicago police officer’s car and personal property, which led to an exchange of gunfire on the South Side Thursday that left one possible suspect injured, Chicago police said.
The off-duty officer was near the car in the 8800 block of South Constance Avenue about 6:05 p.m. when the three individuals approached and “demanded” the officer’s car and property, according to police. Shots were fired between the off-duty officer and one of the individuals.
