Northwestern University ended an “active threat event” alert for its Chicago campus after a suspect was apprehended Monday afternoon.
The alert was issued just before 2 p.m.

Chicago police said at around 1:30 p.m. officers tried to make a traffic stop near Jean Baptiste Point DuSable Lake Shore Drive and Chicago Avenue, but a suspect fled the vehicle and was last seen in the Morton Medical Research Building on the Chicago campus.
Chicago police and Northwestern University police found the suspect in the Ward Building and took the suspect into custody, according to the alert.

Chicago police did not immediately have any more information but issued a news media staging area at the southwest corner of Superior Street and Fairbanks Court.
