For an unknown reason, “it appears he lost control of the vehicle,” around 1500 North on Lake Shore Drive, the notification said. The SUV plowed through a guard rail and knocked down a light pole; the driver was then ejected from the SUV. The SUV also caught on fire and had to be extinguished by the Chicago Fire Department, police said.
