A 30-year-old South Elgin man has been arrested on charges he stabbed his mother to death in the home they shared, officials said.
Michal Wybraniec, 30, is accused of stabbing 53-year-old Beata Wybraniec inside their residence in the 200 block of Thornwood Way Sunday and then following her outside when she tried to flee, where he allegedly resumed the knife attack, a news release from the Kane County state’s attorney and South Elgin police chief said.
No information was provided on whether police and prosecutors know what provoked the incident, if Wybraniec was taken into custody at the scene or elsewhere or if the murder weapon was recovered.
Wybraniec’s bail was set at $2 million by Kane County Judge Salvatore LoPiccolo. His next court appearance is scheduled for April 26.
