Prosecutors say Smith was involved in a fight in the parking lot of D Hangout Bar and Grill, 550 S. McLean Blvd., on the afternoon of Sept. 9, 2018, and fired multiple shots before fleeing. Four people were injured, one of whom was Shaprie Smith-Tate, 25, of Elgin, who died later the same day.
