A Lyons Township woman is facing murder and child endangerment charges following the death of her 19-month-old son.
Cook County sheriff’s officers responded to a call at Jamie Hannion’s home in the 800 block of Victory Lane in unincorporated Lyons Township. A relative of Hannion was taking care of her son and found him dead in his crib Oct. 17, 2022.
Investigators say the toddler, pronounced dead at the scene, was severely malnourished.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide caused by nutritional neglect.
Police officers tried to arrest 22-year-old Hannion in February, but learned she was visiting family in Tennessee. A warrant was issued and FBI agents arrested Hannion March 7. She returned to Cook County Thursday.
Hannion was charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of felony endangering the life and health of a child resulting in death. She is scheduled for bond hearing Friday at the Bridgeview Courthouse.
