Last year, Joliet’s then-police Chief Al Roechner noted Lurry’s arrest and death had been immediately turned over for an investigation by the Will/Grundy Major Crimes Task Force. The Will County state’s attorney’s office issued findings, based on the investigation, in July of 2020. In that report, Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow found that the police officers did not cause Lurry’s death and concurred with the Will County coroner’s office finding that Lurry died of a drug overdose.
