Charges were filed against a man involved in Saturday’s car crash in Hoffman Estates that left two teenagers dead, police said.
Deni Rubio, 34, of Elgin was charged with two counts of aggravated DUI resulting in the death of another person, two counts of reckless homicide and one count on attempting to disarm a police officer.
D’shaun Tudela and Amelia Mazeikis, both 18 years old, were killed Saturday morning in a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Barrington Road and Higgins Road. Tudela and Mazeikis had been dating for three years and recently graduated from Schaumburg High School.
Two other people involved in the crash were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
Rubio will appear in bond court on Monday morning at the Rolling Meadows Court House.
