Early last week, crews began clearing the grounds at 2601 Broadway for the future home of J’s Breakfast Club. Owner Joslyn Kelly was on-site to witness the next phase of a vision that has been in the works for quite some time.

“Today is a pure example of ‘delayed but not denied,’” said an emotional Kelly, who invested in a billboard with the same mantra. “Everything happens in God’s time, so we are right on schedule.”

J’s Breakfast Club, currently located at 3669 Broadway, serves breakfast and lunch seven days a week to a host of repeat and new customers.

The excitement continues to grow as patrons look forward to a newly constructed dining facility in the city. The restaurant will be located adjacent to I-94, one of the country’s busiest highways.

“I have been coming to J’s for years, enjoying the food and atmosphere,” said customer Ollette Washington. “I am excited for Joslyn and her team as they will be able to introduce their delicious menu and great customer service to a larger audience by being so close to the highway.”

Kelly shared that Powers & Sons Construction is overseeing the project.

“It is wonderful to work with a reputable team that had its beginnings in Gary and has built structures across the country,” added Kelly.

A completion date for the 2601 Broadway location has not yet been announced; Kelly encourages the community to continue to support the current location.

“We are very much open and eager to serve customers via dine-in, carry-out, delivery and catering,” said Kelly.
