“Claims that kids need ‘make-up time’ as a response to the pandemic instability may come from good intentions, but just don’t make sense,” the petition states. “There is no evidence that simply adding days changes potential ‘learning loss,’ and an earlier school start will further weaken the already ailing tourism and hospitality industries.”
