Chicago police are investigating a string of robberies and a carjacking that occurred in neighborhoods across the North and Near West sides Sunday night.

At least five incidents were reported in about an hour. Police said they haven’t yet established a pattern or connection between them. Police said no one is in custody, and they are investigating.

Police responded to the first robbery about 9:44 p.m. on the 2200 block of West Hirsch Street in Wicker Park. A man and woman told officers that they were robbed by two unidentified men who approached them on the sidewalk after exiting a dark colored sedan. Police said the men punched the male victim before taking their belongings and fleeing the scene.

About five minutes later, police said three unidentified men, one armed with a handgun, exited a blue sedan and robbed a 67-year-old man and 29-year-old woman on the 2000 block of North Hoyne Avenue in Bucktown. The man was transported to Ascension St. Mary — Chicago hospital in good condition after he was punched multiple times.

At about 9:55 p.m., three unidentified men exited a blue sedan and punched a 35-year-old man after he refused to hand over his belongings on the 2100 block of North Hoyne Avenue, police said. He also was taken to Ascension St. Mary — Chicago hospital in good condition.

Then, at 10:12 p.m., police responded to a call from a woman on the 1200 block of North Milwaukee Avenue in West Town who said three men got out of a blue sedan and demanded she hand over the key to her white SUV. One of the men carried a gun, police said. Police said she complied and the men fled in the woman’s vehicle.

About 20 minutes later, a 44-year-old woman and 23-year-old woman said they were robbed at gunpoint on the 1300 block of West Randolph Street in the West Loop, police said. The 44-year-old said two unidentified men got out of a white SUV, demanding their personal belongings. The younger woman refused, so the men kicked her before fleeing the scene, police said. The 23-year-old was taken to Rush University Medical Center in good condition.
