Weather officials were expecting thunderstorms producing wind gusts up to 65ph to roll into portions of central and northeast Illinois, and northwest Indiana Saturday afternoon.
Some of the thunderstorms may produce ping-pong size hail capable of damaging vehicles. The gusty thunderstorms were predicted to hit late Saturday afternoon along and south of a La Salle to Rensselaer line, officials said.
The storms are expected to develop late Saturday evening into the night hours, and though officials aren’t certain where it will occur, the strongest of the storms will be capable of producing damaging hail and strong wind gusts, officials said in hazardous weather outlook.
Afternoon conditions at O’Hare International Airport are overcast at 64 degrees, and at Midway Airport conditions are mostly cloudy at 66 degrees.
