Following Iapoce’s departure, the Cubs’ next hire will be their 7th hitting coach in 11 seasons. That former group features Rudy Jaramillo, James Rowson, Bill Mueller, John Mallee and Chili Davis. The hitting coach changes do not include the six assistant hitting coaches the Cubs have also employed in that span, three of whom were fired (Rob Deer, Mike Brumley and Terrmel Sledge).
