Chicago area under flash flood watch as thunderstorms persist until later in week, but forecast for July 4 weekend clear and sunny

There was a limited thunderstorm risk Tuesday with the possibility of damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour, according to the National Weather Service. Storms in areas that have received heavy rainfall over the past couple of days may cause flooding of ditches, fields and roadways.
