“For him to have as good of an eye as he does, get the walks he does and also have power, that’s about as deadly it gets,” Sox starter Dylan Cease said. “We all know what he does defensively. He calls a great game, he’s able to frame pitches well, especially low breaking stuff, which really helps me. So I think we’re seeing why he’s as highly touted as he is.”
As a child, Juan would race his siblings to finish dinner, graduating to a family Easter tradition of seeing who could eat the most pancakes. From there, he attended local restaurant food challenges, like eating a 7-pound burrito or 6-pound burrito, and then contests that paved the way to Nathan’s.

At some point, the Cubs front office will commit to an organizational direction, whether it be trading assets or adding reinforcements, ahead of the July 31 trade deadline. The team’s recent play has not helped build a case that the Cubs should make significant moves to improve the roster. Kopech, 25, went on the IL in late May after suffering a strained left hamstring. He is 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA, 45 strikeouts and 11 walks in 31⅓ innings this season. He had Tommy John surgery in September 2018, forcing him to miss the 2019 season, then sat out the shortened 2020 schedule because of COVID-19 concerns and personal reasons.
