“Now actually getting to firsthand see how he works, how he operates, to talk through how he likes to run routes, when he’s expecting the ball to come out on certain timings on these routes, it’s been great, just the communication that we’ve been able to have,” Dalton said. “That’s what we’ve got to have this time of year. And it’s so nice for both of us, we’ve played a lot of football, so we can talk through different looks and we both understand what we’re expecting to see.”

“(Dalton) could play tomorrow in a (regular-season) game and I would feel great about it,” Nagy said. “Our players would feel great about it. That’s probably why he’ll play less snaps. If we go out there and score a touchdown on the first drive, I can promise you if it’s three plays, he’s out. But if we want to see more and he feels like he needs more, too, we’ll do that. It’ll be a chance for us to talk through it. And again, we need to evaluate Justin, so we’re going to want to see him do some stuff.”

In its ruling, the NCAA said the allegations centered on conduct never before presented to the Committee on Infractions, “namely, that Baylor shielded football student-athletes from the institution’s disciplinary process and failed to report allegations of abhorrent misconduct by football student-athletes, including instances of sexual and interpersonal violence.”

“The talent,” he said after the game. “Obviously, great city, great organization. The history behind it is definitely amazing, but for sure the talent. Looking at players like Zach (LaVine) — I’ve been a fan of Zach since he’s been in the league. His growth. Just looking at the overall squad. Seeing (Nikola) Vučević there, that was my teammate in college. So it’s been great.”

“I don’t think it matters what the actual genre was about, if it had Kevin Costner, Ray Liotta or James Earl Jones, you were getting it in Australia,” said Hendriks, who was born in Perth, Australia. “I remember watching it as a kid and really didn’t understand baseball, just saw a bunch of ghosts running around and I thought it was kind of cool.”

Montgomery has looked good during training camp. I don’t know that he’s going to be noticeably faster this season. Generally, once running backs enter the NFL, they get slower as the wear and tear adds up. Sure, a player can get a little leaner, but a running back is what he is by the time he’s a professional. Montgomery never will be a home run hitter. It’s possible he could have improved his lateral quickness a little bit, but he’s not going to look like Alvin Kamara this season. I think you will see the same player who runs with excellent balance and vision. It’s smart that Montgomery really pushed himself in training during the offseason, and provided the offensive line comes together — a real question right now — he could have a very productive season. Montgomery’s opportunities and the performance of the line will determine his success more than any speed training. If the Bears remain committed to the ground game, which often can be a function of game circumstances, I could see him topping 1,200 yards. That benchmark will be easier for healthy running backs to hit with a 17th regular-season game.
