“I am not sure if it gives us momentum but I’m 100% sure it doesn’t give (the Mercury) any,” Wade said. “You don’t want to give someone a false confidence where they can say, ‘OK, this is what we did at the end.’ When the bench first came in, they were trying to get to a place where they could get some chemistry, and once they did we were able to distance ourselves more.”

“You see it on tape (with Fields). You can see it on TV. And then to be able to see it live and have it firsthand, and to see how he handles situations, there’s a calm for all of us,” Nagy said. “The fact that he’s that way, that’s a strength that not everybody has. Scherzer has pitched 12⅓ innings over three appearances in the playoffs, allowing two runs and six hits with 16 strikeouts. Scherzer, who pitched for the Washington Nationals for six-plus seasons in the NL East before he was traded to the Dodgers this season, is very familiar with the Braves lineup, which he said “first and foremost starts with Freddie Freeman.”
