In addition to the nine-game winless streak to start the season, the United Center sellout streak ended at 535 games during a 6-3 loss to the Detroit Red Wings (19,042 showed up at an arena that seats 19,717 for hockey), and attendance slipped to 18,616 last Wednesday against the Toronto Maple Leafs and 15,946 on Monday against the Senators.

In most games, the Bears haven’t been throwing as much as they did last year, but that also doesn’t explain the precipitous drop in targets and production for Robinson. Plenty of folks should share the blame here. Nagy, offensive coordinator Bill Lazor, wide receivers coach Mike Furrey, the quarterbacks and probably Robinson himself in certain instances. Then don’t forget about the offensive line, which has struggled to hold up at times. I bet if you go back through the film there are instances of Robinson winning a route downfield only for the ball not to come his way because the quarterback couldn’t hang in long enough to deliver it. When things are going badly for an offense as they are for the Bears when it comes to passing, rarely is only one area the problem. The Bears passing attack has a multitude of issues, and one direct fallout is Robinson’s statistics stink and won’t bolster his bid for a big payday when he becomes a free agent in March. The thing is, it’s not like anyone else is putting up numbers in the passing game, so it probably won’t kill Robinson, but this has to be eating at him way more than he’s letting on. Credit to Robinson for being a professional.
