“I have done this too long to assume that anything gets across the finish line, so you try to keep a lot of balls in the air, and some of those may be, as you guys would deem, significant. His companions were, naturally, mostly ballplayers, but Cary was also bent elbows that year with Jack Benny and Wilt Chamberlain, Jack Dempsey and Gale Sayers.
