Skokie police were called to the Nordstrom department store in Old Orchard Shopping Center shortly after 11 a.m. Tuesday on a report of a retail theft and assault, said Franklin. On arrival, officers determined that four females entered the store and quickly left with display racks holding high-end handbags, scarves and socks.

“Although it is recommended that the number of visitors be reduced to those essential for the pregnant individual’s well-being,” the guidance states, “ACOG encourages facilities to consider innovative solutions and localized, collaborative approaches that ensure patients have the support and stability they need while pregnant, during labor, and postpartum if in-person support must be limited.”

Temperatures are forecast to jump significantly in the coming days as a high-pressure weather system moves through the area, according to meteorologist Brian Leatherwood of the weather service’s Chicago office. Scattered showers are expected Friday morning along the Illinois-Wisconsin state line, but otherwise it should be a “pretty quiet weekend” weather-wise, he said.
Michael Williams, 30, of the 5900 block of West Iowa Street, was charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated discharge of a firearm in an occupied building and felon in possession of a firearm, police said. Williams is expected to appear before a judge later Thursday.
“We’re excited to kick off the launch of training with our participants next week,” said executive race director Carey Pinkowski in a statement. “Over the next 18 weeks our team will be hard at work, much like our participants, preparing for the return of the event. After a year without a major marathon, it feels great to know the start line is once again in our sights.”
The pedestrian had been crossing South Elmhurst Road in the 1300 block, south of Huntington Commons Road, shortly before 2 p.m., according to a news release from Mount Prospect police. As the man made his way across the road, a black Chevrolet traveling south hit the pedestrian, causing him significant injuries and front-end damage to the vehicle, according to witnesses.
