Illinois State Police responded to the shooting on the northbound Dan Ryan Expressway near 33rd Street about 6:49 p.m., according to the state police’s Chicago district. One man was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, and another man sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No further details were made available Friday.

Some big casino operators, like MGM, have announced they would not bid. Temperatures will reach up to the late 80s, and potentially creep up to highs in the low 90s Sunday and early next week. Despite the high likelihood of “popcorn” thunderstorms throughout the weekend, there is no predicted widespread severe threat, the weather service said.
A 28-year-old woman and 26-year-old man were standing in the parking lot when they were shot, police said. The woman was hit in the left leg and was taken to Rush University Medical Center in fair condition, and the man was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital also in fair condition with a gunshot wound to the left leg and arm, police said.
