The state board also recently mailed warning letters to the superintendents of seven public, community unit school districts in Illinois — Red Bud CUSD 132, Carlyle CUSD 1, Benton CCSD 47, Durand CUSD 322, Patoka CUSD 100, Warsaw CUSD 316 and Spoon River Valley CUSD 4 — reducing their recognition status to “on probation,” Matthews said.
The National Weather Service’s Chicago office issued a combined 45 severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings from Monday through Thursday. That included the 13 tornado warnings, all of which were issued Monday as well as two severe thunderstorm warnings that day. There were 11 severe thunderstorm warnings issued Tuesday, 13 on Wednesday and six on Thursday.

In west suburban Carol Stream, Covenant Living Windsor Park reported 44 cases recently in its independent living area, where residents more often go out in public. Seven cases were active, and most were asymptomatic. The home is offering voluntary vaccinations to any residents or staff who need it, and issued a statement saying, “The health and safety of our residents and employees remains our highest priority.”
Police responded to the 5N600 block of Pearson Drive, in Wayne, for the report of shots fired Thursday. A woman told police she was swimming in the river with both of her dogs when a neighbor, who was not identified, began to shoot at the dogs, reports stated.
“We trust this statement will be sufficient to reinstate the school’s recognition status, effective immediately, and without blemish to the school’s record,” Clohessy said, adding, “I would welcome the opportunity to have an amicable conversation about the rules under which the school’s recognition was ‘immediately’ revoked, in order to clear up any misunderstanding of the state’s authority.”
Bass turned 16 on March 4, and was supposed to go in for early orientation at the high school on Thursday. He was going to be a sophomore, and planned to attend school in person. Bass loved to eat Rice Krispies Treats, sushi, and soft chocolate chip cookies, and he enjoyed playing his PlayStation in his free time.
Boggs, who had pleaded guilty in the case, took responsibility again Thursday and apologized to everyone affected. He also lamented the erosion of trust he might have caused between financial advisers, particularly Black ones, and their clients. He promised that this would be his last run-in with the law.
