Police said the man, who was driving west on the Kennedy near Beverly Road, milepost 57.5, was shot by someone in an unknown vehicle also traveling west about 4:11 a.m. He was struck multiple times and taken to an area hospital by ambulance. His passenger, a 27-year-old man from Carpentersville, was uninjured.
A 27-year-old woman was in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital with a gunshot wound to her pelvis. Three men in their 20s and 30s were also taken to Mount Sinai, where their conditions were stabilized. A woman, 30, was at Mount Sinai with a graze wound in good condition, and another woman, 33, was at Mount Sinai in fair condition after suffering a gunshot to her shoulder.
Kelly’s accusers, in aggregate, said from the witness stand that he could be kind and considerate at first, but then became abusive and controlling over the course of their relationships, imposing strict “rules” and violently punishing girlfriends who stepped out of line. He coerced them into having sex with him and others, and stage-managed each encounter, often while recording with a camera or iPad, they said.
Holt approached the Amazon driver in the area of 63rd Street and California Avenue and demanded her keys, prosecutors said. The driver called police and gave them the robber’s description, and officers caught up with him. He fled the scene on foot, but was arrested, prosecutors said.
Police said a 31-year-old man was a front seat passenger in a vehicle when another vehicle pulled up to the passenger side, and someone fired four shots, striking the victim to the left leg. The man got himself to Advocate Trinity Hospital where his condition was stabilized, police said.

In addition to St. Joseph, there are nine other Level II hospitals in Region 9: Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Centegra Hospitals in Huntley and McHenry, Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva, Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington, Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, AMITA Health Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora and St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates, the state health department’s website said.
