After receiving the opinion from the city’s ethics chief, Steve Berlin, at 9:52 a.m. on April 13, Flessner forwarded the opinion to Lightfoot. The mayor then forwarded it to her then-chief of staff, Maurice Classen, and interim corporation counsel Celia Meza seven minutes later, writing only, “FYI.”
Federal prosecutors alleged Muñoz stole from a political action committee formed by the Chicago Progressive Reform Caucus, where he served as chairman and performed the duties of its treasurer. Prosecutors accused him of moving funds from the CPRC into another fund he controlled, Citizens for Muñoz, and then into his personal checking account.
Barrett Callaghan, a 25-year-old from Orland Park, was driving the Explorer, troopers said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:30 a.m., according to information from the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The other driver also was pronounced dead, but the medical examiner’s office had not released his name or age as of Monday morning.
“Indiana American Water performs continuous real-time monitoring at our Ogden Dunes treatment facility, and although we have seen no impact on the raw water parameters we are monitoring for at this location, the treatment plant will remain offline until such time as additional data and water testing results confirm there is no threat to the company’s source water at this location,” he said.

A 17-year-old boy was among three people who were all shot at least once in their right leg. The teen was taken to Stroger in good condition, police said. A man, 24, also was reported to be in good condition at Stroger and a 39-year-old man was in good condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.
While they were on the run, the men made two charitable donations in Cornell-Duranleau’s name, prosecutors said: $5,610 to the Howard Brown Health Center, an LGBT health and social services provider, and $1,000 to a public library in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.
Ernie Alvarez is a writing and soccer coach for an after-school program that serves elementary and middle school students in North Lawndale, Pilsen, Little Village and Back of the Yards. In the past, Riot Fest has made the Douglass Park soccer fields unsafe for kids to play on, Alvarez said, forcing his organization to scramble to get permits for other fields.
Police said the man, who was driving west on the Kennedy near Beverly Road, milepost 57.5, was shot by someone in an unknown vehicle also traveling west about 4:11 a.m. He was struck multiple times and taken to an area hospital by ambulance. His passenger, a 27-year-old man from Carpentersville, was uninjured.
