About 1:45 p.m., a 32-year-old man, 28-year-old woman and a 1-year-old child were in a vehicle in the 1100 block of North Larrabee Avenue in the Goose Island neighborhood, near the station located at 1160 N. Larrabee Ave., when someone fired shots at them, police said. They crashed their vehicle after being shot.
District Chicago, where Trooper Mason was assigned, has had a total of 185 reported expressway shootings in 2021, compared with 83 at this time last year, the statement said. And in 2020 there were more than twice the number of shootings than the 52 expressway shootings in 2019. There were 43 in 2018, according to the state police.
Jordan S. Christensen, 33, of 1700 block of River Road, is accused of using a spring-loaded knife to assault the person, whom he knew, a news release said. The victim’s neck was cut and they received stab wounds to the left side of the neck and around the ear, the release said.
The measure is one of many so-called “heartbeat laws” passed in various states, which try to ban abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected. Other similar statutes, though, have been blocked by the courts, citing Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court case that established the right to terminate a pregnancy.

Canadian prosecutors put a freeze on the property. This year, a data center company, Green Data Center Real Estate Inc., put up nearly $1 million in escrow money toward buying the site, Kelly said, but its bid fell through. About $500,000 of the escrow was applied to the building’s back taxes, he said.
Instead, prosecutors have said only that Lathem and Warren, both deeply depressed, had a suicidal agreement to kill each other. Warren, testifying for the state as part of a plea agreement, said Lathem spoke in general about killing people, and one night in July 2017 summoned Warren to his apartment because he wanted to kill his boyfriend, Trenton Cornell.
