Meanwhile, Catanzara is facing his own controversy: Next month he faces firing from his job as a police officer on 18 department charges, including that he made comments on social media that investigators deemed offensive and incendiary. Unrelated to the charges, Catanzara also faced national scorn for public comments he made, and later apologized for, downplaying the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol.
Police said Cauley had a case management hearing on a May charge for aggravated battery to a Deerfield police officer. Cauley was out on bail, but court records indicate he failed a test for illegal substances. During the hearing, the judge ordered him into custody for violating the terms of his bond, police said.

Carlos A. Bedoya, 66, of Aurora, was found guilty by a Kane County jury in 2019 of eight counts of predatory criminal sexual assault. In the plea deal this week, he agreed to plead guilty to 12 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in exchange for the 60-year sentence — five years for each count, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office said.

Applicants must live in suburban Cook County and earn no more than $52,200 for a single-person household or $74,550 for a family of four. They must prove financial hardship during the pandemic, such as losing income, working fewer hours or being furloughed. Other qualifications can be losing work because of child care, risk of infection or other costs from COVID-19.
“I put Andrew and Trent in the same room, I gave Andrew the drugs, I took out a knife without telling Andrew about safe role play with knives,” he said on the stand, red-faced, his eyes squeezed shut. “I brought that drywall saw into the bedroom and I didn’t stop Andrew from hurting him, I didn’t, I hid in the bathroom like a coward.”
