In October, the Chicago Fraternal Order of Police filed a lawsuit against the city arguing the vaccination policy violated their collective bargaining agreement. The city also sued the FOP alleging its president, John Catanzara, was encouraging an illegal strike, but the city later dropped the litigation.
Besides Irvin, who was elected as Aurora’s first Black mayor in 2017, the tentative ticket also includes state Rep. Avery Bourne as lieutenant governor. Bourne, 29, a three-term lawmaker from Downstate Morrisonville, is widely viewed as a future star in the party.
“I talked to some of the guys this morning (and said), ‘You’ve got to understand that this is the world we live in right now,’” Nagy said. “These are the rules we’ve got to play by, and everybody has to know that at any given moment you’ve got to be ready because it’s the next-man-up mentality, not just for players but for coaches too. In these type of moments what you’ve got to do is try to really stay positive, take care of your body, stay positive, stay together and realize that we’re not the only ones right now in that (situation).”

Hain said deputies were called to the 7N300 block of Windsor Drive around 9:15 a.m. Monday after getting a call that a 51-year-old woman had been jogging in the area and was attacked by the two Rottweilers. A Labradoodle first ran from its yard to where the woman was jogging “to greet her in the street,” officials said, so the woman stopped running and helped the Labradoodle get back to its owner, who had been standing in her driveway watching the exchange.
In its recommendation, Jones Day said the city should “ensure adequate attorney oversight of FOIA responses in all departments,” develop “consistent and thorough training” for FOIA officers, create a central database for public records requests and formalize communication between the Department of Law, Chicago Police and the Civilian Office of Police Accountability.
