“This court acknowledges the tragic toll the COVID-19 pandemic has taken, not only on this State, but throughout the nation and globe,” Grischow wrote in the decision. “Nonetheless, it is the duty of the Courts to preserve the rule of law and ensure that all branches of government act within the boundaries of the authority granted under the Constitution.”
A superseding indictment in the Arroyo case added new wire and mail fraud charges against him and also charged James Weiss with bribery, wire fraud, mail fraud and lying to the FBI. Weiss, who has pleaded not guilty, is married to former Cook County Democratic Chairman Joe Berrios’ daughter, former state Rep. Toni Berrios.

While some people came back outside, about 15, chose to stay in the lobby of the Dirksen building, which closes at 6 p.m. At one point, those who were inside locked arms and stood by the windows facing the crowd outside and began to chant. One of them, Calloway, said the group was “very peaceful” but “refused to leave until we thought our voices were heard.” Around 5 p.m., the group inside was escorted out of the lobby by U.S. marshals, and the nine were taken into custody.
Damico, in a white Nissan Rogue, was heading east. She sped through the intersection, later clocked at 85 mph, crossing the centerline and median, hitting the first two cars. Her car then jackknifed, or spun east, striking Scheidt on her passenger side, who was knocked several feet toward the opposite sidewalk, court records allege.

He also bought jewelry, cuff links, women’s clothing, three Apple iPhones and accessories, aerial sightseeing trips and sky diving excursions, according to the indictment. Muñoz also transferred $16,000 to pay college tuition for an unidentified person, according to the charges.
The indictment alleged Thompson filed false tax returns stating he had paid a total of more than $171,000 in interest to Washington Federal related to the loans, when actually he had paid nothing, the indictment alleged. He also allegedly understated his taxable income on those same returns, according to the indictment.
