The class action lawsuit, filed in the Nothern District of Illinois by the Uptown People’s Law Center and Jenner & Block LLP on behalf of detainee Gregory Shipp, names David Gomez, warden of the Northern Reception and Classification Center (NRC) and Rob Jeffreys, the director of the center, as defendants.

Another client of Irvin’s was Enrique Prado, convicted of concealing the 2013 homicidal death of 18-year-old Abigail Villalpando, court records show. Villalpando, described by relatives and co-workers as a hardworking teenager who aspired to become a cop, was beaten with a hammer, doused with gasoline and set on fire. An arson charge against Prado was later dropped.

Ice jams are created when rain and melting snow cause layers of ice on the river to rise, break and jam the water like a dam, Damron said. Yesterday’s jam, which started about 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. and broke about 5 p.m., elevated the water level to 10 feet, almost three times its typical summer level, he added.
Among those witnesses, according to Bonjean, was Jane Doe 5, a former girlfriend of Kelly’s who testified at trial that the singer physically, sexually and psychologically abused her over a number of years, including administering beatings for violating his bizarre rules and forcing her have sex with strangers as punishment.
“Our schools will continue to enforce these policies, including mandated universal masking. These safety measures are what have allowed us to provide our students with the in-person learning environment they need throughout this school year. We will continue to follow these protocols until such time as our public health partners advise us that restrictions can be safely lifted,” officials said, adding: “We are encouraged to see COVID-19 cases dropping, and we remain optimistic about what this will mean for our school communities in the future. Our top priority remains the safety and stability of CPS students, staff, and families.”

As an appointee to the federal bench, he’s been vetted thoroughly,” said Burke, who sits on the ethics commission. “He was interviewed at length by the members of the legislative ethics commission, all of whom, even Republican members, acknowledge his experience and suitability for the office.”
