“If I did this, then it means I stuck my fist in the fears of Black Americans in this country for over 400 years, and the fears of the LGBT community,” he said. “Your honor, I respect you, and I respect the jury, but I did not do this. And I am not suicidal, and if anything happens to me when I go in there, I did not do it to myself.”
Under the federal program, victims and witnesses, as well as their family members, typically get new identities with “authentic documentation,” the Marshals Service website says, and they’re offered basic living expenses, medical care, job training and help seeking employment. The marshals also provide 24-hour protection to witnesses through the adjudication processes of their cases.

“As much as we want to talk about how fun this is, there’s a lot of distractions that come along with it,” Valentine said. “Worrying about how many tickets you get. Mom calling and saying, ‘This person wants a ticket.’ Girlfriend saying, ‘Can I get a ticket?’ People worried about travel. People coming up to you in your classes saying, ‘Man, make it to the Final Four again.’ That stuff is all real. Those distractions are real.
Some experts are high on Chattanooga, including CBS analyst Seth Davis, who predicted the Mocs would advance to the Sweet 16. At a Sunday news conference, Chicago police Superintendent David Brown said the group was standing near a Little Caesars Pizza when a car pulled up and shots were fired from inside the car. The number of shooters was unclear, Brown said, and it was not yet clear if the shooting was targeted. There was not an exchange of gunfire, he said.
Organizations from Girl Scouts to Irish dancers to the Libertarian Party of Chicago marched along the route, which started at William J. Onahan Elementary School in the Norwood Park East neighborhood. Some attendees wore coats over green sweatshirts or flannels, but many celebrated the over-40-degree temperatures with fewer layers.
