The Environmental Defense Fund sued in 2020, raising concerns that the pipeline was approved without adequate review. In June, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia ruled that FERC had not adequately demonstrated a need for the project, vacating approval of the pipeline.
According to federal prosecutors, the year before the cameras became operational, Ragucci was paid off as part of a scheme in which the red-light camera firm paid a 14% commission on revenue generated on the cameras to another firm it had hired as a “sales consultant” to get village business. That consulting firm’s officials then paid a portion of the commission to Ragucci, first $3,500 a month, then an amount based on how much cash the cameras generated, prosecutors alleged.
As travels ramps up for spring and summer, the automated train, officially called the Airport Transit System, was scheduled to begin round-the-clock service Monday, the Chicago Department of Aviation said. The train connects passengers to each of the airport’s terminals and a transit facility that includes parking, rental cars, Pace bus stops and connects to a Metra station.
“One problem is it’s going to take time,” Stein cautioned. “Particularly, this lawsuit is going to have to take a lot of time to be successful. And the one thing about elderly people that live on a pension is it’s not really a satisfactory answer to say, ‘We think there’s a pretty good chance that after two to three years of litigation, we’ll be able to get some of your money back.’ That, in itself, is a real problem for somebody living on a fixed income. Even if that materializes and, of course, nobody knows (if) these lawsuits are going to succeed or not.”
Troopers were called to the area of Interstate 94 and West 31st Street around 3:45 a.m. after receiving information about a three-vehicle crash, one of which was a Chicago Police Department squad car, Trooper Jayme Bufford said in an email. According to preliminary information, a vehicle coming up behind the squad car rear-ended it, leaving the driver of the first vehicle and two police officers in the squad car suffering from injuries not considered life-threatening.
Although the first round of weather should taper off by 7 a.m. or so, forecasters said more snow could fall in the afternoon, as could graupel, which is sometimes referred to as “soft hail.” Graupel can resemble gravel and it is generally like a small-diameter hail, although not as hard or compact.
“It was a dark Friday, it was a devastating Friday, hearts were broken on that Friday, tears were flowing on that Friday, and hopes were damaged on that Friday,” Dew said. “These are the emotions that we are so familiar with because we just experienced an awful Friday.
“I’m always, always, always for the people that give time and energy to support myself, support anyone and especially LA Galaxy,” Hernández said. “Even in Chicago … or if they are in LA, Mexico, China or whatever part of the world, I just want to say thank you to anyone that gives a lot of good energy. Something I believe, too, in life is that whatever you give, you’re going to receive it sooner or later.”
In comparison, only three players from the 2020-21 Bulls roster returned this season. The secondary lineup relies on three players who are 22 or younger — Ayo Dosunmu, Williams and White. The Bulls start three All-Stars, but this is LaVine’s first postseason and the second for Nikola Vučević. Thompson and DeMar DeRozan are the most experienced Bulls players in the playoffs, playing in more than 140 postseason games combined.
