Dear Headaches: If your baby is due around Christmas, it might be wisest for you not to bring a newborn into a crowded house for an extended stay. Newborns are extremely portable, but the early days are an ideal time for the parents to hunker down, love on their new child, and adjust to parenthood.

Waiting until the plants are fully leafed-out and cutting them back to ground level in spring, and then covering with plastic, will have more negative impact on the goutweed. Waiting until later in summer, as you did in August, can be less effective, as the goutweed would have built up more food reserves in the roots by that time of year. You did take the right steps to clear out the goutweed.

I believe a multi-pronged approach would help you, including a clinical assessment regarding your depression, individual counseling, peer support from other first responders, and mindfulness work on your own (meditation, movement, and spending time each day in nature).

“Jocelyn,” his business partner of 25 years, has become close to the family over the years. Sharon tells me that Jocelyn occasionally spends the night at their house when there is an upcoming business meeting in our area, since she lives quite a distance away. They all seem to enjoy one another’s company.

Lewis canvassed the South Shore community with volunteers in 2018 and 2019 to ask South Shore residents what they needed to thrive, what they thought the community needed and what they wanted the community to look like. Hundreds of voices were heard. The information collected was then organized into the following categories: environmental/infrastructure, safety, education, leisure, youth development, economic opportunity, housing, health, politics and spirituality/humanitarianism. The data was processed with the guidance of sociology faculty at the University of Pennsylvania.
