In 2017, an investor group that included Goodman and Higginbottom bought the Sun-Times, the Reader and other assets for $1. One year later, when the Sun-Times was looking to shed the unprofitable Reader, Goodman and Higginbottom put up another dollar and bought it, assuming the debt and stewardship of a Chicago journalistic institution, whose days may now be numbered.
A few days later, another employee involved in the effort, Zack Piccozzi, quit Lost Larson, both to protest Honold’s firing and because he was taken off the schedule without notice, which made him suspect he was going to be fired or disciplined for raising workplace concerns, Piccozzi said. After another week, several more employees, including Roffers, Haas and Ten Eyck, also quit.
The Irvine, California-based electric vehicle manufacturer announced last year that it would build the facility on a 2,000-acre (809-hectare) site in Morgan and Walton counties about 45 miles (72 kilometers) east of Atlanta along Interstate 20. It plans to produce up to 400,000 vehicles a year there. Rivian, which also has a plant in Normal, Illinois, said it hopes to break ground as early as this summer and begin production in 2024.
To prod more people to pay for their own accounts, Netflix indicated it will expand a trial program it has been running in three Latin American countries — Chile, Costa Rica and Peru. In these locations, subscribers can extend service to another household for a discounted price. In Costa Rica, for instance, Netflix plan prices range from $9 to $15 a month, but subscribers can openly share their service with another household for $3.
The family will remain involved both in management roles and as shareholders. Tony Ingraffia will be a shareholder and board member, said Andrew Jhawar, a partner at Apollo. Tony and Frank Ingraffia as well as some other family members will have “a significant equity investment” in the company, Jhawar said, though he declined to disclose their share. Gambino is retiring, the company said, though his family will continue to be involved in the business. The parties declined to comment on financial details of the transaction.
Instead of getting radiation or surgery, patients with Gleason 6 can undergo what’s called active surveillance, which consists of regular blood tests, exams and occasional biopsies. Now, more than half of patients with Gleason 6 nationwide choose active surveillance, rather than radiation or surgery, Eggener said.

After the state announcement, CTA, Metra and the Chicago Department of Aviation also lifted their mask requirements. All three agencies had initially continued to require masks despite the federal ruling, citing the state rules. They all asked riders to be courteous to other passengers once mask requirements ended.
With the pandemic easing, people have been finding other things to do, and other video streaming services are working hard to lure new viewers with their own award-winning programming. Apple, for instance, held the exclusive streaming rights to “CODA,” which eclipsed Netflix’s “Power of The Dog,” among other movies, to win Best Picture at last month’s Academy Awards.
Though Chicago and Illinois already lifted mask requirements for businesses and schools, the federal mandate applied to airports, trains, buses and ride-shares. Its absence has left a patchwork of rules for travelers and transit riders to follow, as companies and agencies varied their responses.
