The outage occurred after the company automatically rebooted modems for a “portion” of Chicago-area customers, New Jersey-based RCN Telecom Services said in an email. Nearly 1,300 people reported the outage just after noon, according to Downdetector.com, with internet service down for customers from Chicago to Skokie.

The Chicago Assembly Plant has been the exclusive production home of the Ford Explorer for more than a decade. The aid is part of Biden’s larger $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package that became law in March. Administration officials said payments could begin to go out in the coming days to eligible governments, allowing state, local, territorial and tribal officials to offset the economic damage from the coronavirus pandemic.
