The move marks a step forward in the Biden administration’s effort to clear a backlog of claims in the borrower defense program, which provides loan forgiveness to students who were defrauded by their colleges. Claims piled up during the Trump administration, which stalled the program and only started processing claims after a federal court demanded it. There are now more than 100,000 pending claims.
It’s the second technical issue this week for Southwest, which said flights were disrupted Monday due to issues at a third-party weather data provider involving weather information needed to safely operate flights. Southwest said it is still investigating the causes of the technology issues.
The proposal is for 33 apartments, one ground-floor retail space, 16 parking spaces and 28 bicycle parking stalls, according to documents filed with the city. The project qualifies for zoning as a transit-oriented development, which has lower parking requirements, since it’s near the Belmont CTA train station that serves Red, Brown and Purple Line trains.
The privately owned company helped create a market for “on-demand” video interviews. Its known customers have included retailers like Target and Ikea, major tech companies like Amazon, banks like JP Morgan and Goldman Sachs, oil giants, restaurant chains, supermarkets, airlines, cruise lines and school districts. The Associated Press reached out to numerous brand-name employers that use the technology; most declined to discuss it.
That switch will also likely help reduce the supply shortages that have plagued some parts of the economy and pushed up inflation. There are signs this is already happening: With car prices rising, auto sales have slowed. Vehicle sales soared in the pandemic, which means fewer people need new cars. And according to a separate government report Tuesday, automakers ramped up production in May, after it fell in two of the previous three months.
The Crawfords’ unit’s interior was designed by Kelly Hurliman. It makes up half the building’s top floor and has a private elevator entry, 4-1/2 bathrooms, a kitchen with quartzite countertops and Wolf appliances, a private office, a home gym, a walk-through pantry, a back kitchen and an 850-square-foot private terrace. The second level has a primary bedroom suite with two large custom walk-in closets, and the living room has built-ins, a custom honed marble fireplace and 20-foot Nana retractable doors.
It is the third round of announcements Scott has made regarding her philanthropy, which values quick response and unrestricted donations that as an individual rivals the largest of foundations. In 2020, she made two similar surprise announcements where she donated about $6 billion to COVID relief, gender equity historically Black colleges and universities and other schools.
The top two floors of the building comprise a three-bedroom, 7,880-square-foot condominium unit that has brand-new infrastructure, including new hardwood floors and new finishes. The unit has 4-1/2 bathrooms, dental moldings, a recently installed, temperature-controlled wine room, a second level with 14-foot ceilings, an office, a game room and a wood-paneled primary bedroom that is located in Playboy founder Hugh Hefner’s original office.
