Rivers Casino in Des Plaines is hiring 400 people, including 250 dealers, to prepare for a 78,000-square-foot expansion set to open in spring 2022. Lilly said Thursday that it will seek approval for its potential treatment, donanemab, based on data from a mid-stage clinical study of the drug involving 272 patients. The FDA gave donanemab a “breakthrough therapy” designation, which is intended to speed the development and review of drugs that show signs of being an improvement over established treatments.

Koumi, founder of a six-location chain called Green Market Cafe, tries to keep food and paper costs below 35% of his menu prices, but lately his computers keep flagging items that go above that parameter. He’s paying twice as much to buy chicken as he was in January, and other meats and paper products have gotten more expensive too.

Those employees work in offices under the Cook County president, in the County Clerk’s Office, in civilian positions in the sheriff’s office, and for Cook County Health. About 1,473 of those workers are part of Cook County Health, working at Stroger and Provident hospitals, clinics, and in mental health services at Cermak. They include technicians, physician assistants and and service and maintenance workers, among others.

About 58% of applicants were approved in the first round, and the agency expects to approve more of the applications in this second round, Faust said. Many of those denied did not meet the requirement that they were behind on rent, or indicated they had not lost income because of COVID-19, according to the agency. In this round a process to review and catch application mistakes is built in, and more funding is available.
